Ladies- it is that time of year- Self Assessments!
Some organizations want these due before the end of the year and others it is a January activity. Regardless of your HR timeline you and your team will be doing this soon.
And of course, it is November so the holidays are approaching us- maybe even faster this year as news of supply chain issues continues!
So, before the stress of the holidays and year-end activities, whether it is performance evaluations or the push for year-end volume, take some time to do your own evaluation.
I do not mean of your 2021 goals at work, I mean of you as a person.
You can rank yourself on a scale of 1 to 5 if that helps, but more importantly reflect on your feelings- physically and mentally, your goals, your satisfaction with life, your quality of life, your family etc.
This does not have to be a formal process.
Find some time and ask yourself the following:
- Have I met my goals/resolutions for this year?
- If not, can I?
- If not, why not?
- Why did I not make myself a priority?
- How are my relationships with my family (however you define family)?
- How am I showing up to those around me- coworkers, team members, family, friends, the lady at DMV?
- Am I showing my best self or so stressed and short with people no one wants to be around me?
- Maybe you don’t want to be around you.
- Am I ready for change?
Now only you know the answers to these questions but if any of them were not the answers you wanted, we should talk about your options.
What are the options?
- Keep doing the same thing and feel the same crappy way. Sounds awesome!
- Say I have two months left to this year, it’s time to get back on track so while I may not hit my goal at least I’ll be closer by the end of the year.
- Realize something has to change and get serious about making the change!
Remember you are not the only one experiencing your feelings of exhaustion and defeat. Everyone you engage with is feeling it to some extent.
- Your team feels neglected or resentful that they are not getting your attention
- Your peers are feeling that edginess or dealing with you missing commitments
- Your family feels your exhaustion and frustration
- The associate or server you lose your patience with at a store or restaurant feels it.
Do you see why you need to take care of you?
Your burnout, exhaustion, frustration spreads beyond you. Consider the impact as you do your self-assessment?
